A & T’s March wedding at Domaine Le Castelet

Celebration of an off-season wedding

A & T chose Le Castelet for its combination of rustic charm and elegance: on the one hand, the breathtaking, natural rural setting, and on the other, the startling symmetry of the architecture (the manor and farmhouse).

“The rooms in the manor house were perfect for our parents because they needed some peace and quiet away from the reception venue. We had a party on the terrace of the larger of the cottages on the Friday night; that way, we were able to save the courtyard and function room for the wedding reception on the Saturday.”

To create the elegant rustic vibe they were aiming for, the bride and groom opted for natural fabrics and earthy tones: wood, hessian, lace, linen, etc.

“The festivities began on the Friday.”

“We rented the whole of the property from Friday to Sunday; that way, we had time to set everything up on the Friday and do all the decorations ourselves. After spending all day Friday getting everything ready, we kicked off the festivities in the evening by hosting a dinner.”

The bride got ready in the Grange cottage, as she liked its rustic charm, while T and his best man used the billiards room and the quaint curiosity room.

The young couple wanted a church wedding, and after the ceremony they came back to the venue for a cocktail reception with friends and family in the inner courtyard of the converted farmhouse.

“It was a wonderful reception in a beautiful setting… An amazing, unforgettable day!” remembers the bride fondly.

A simple, laid-back lunch

For lunch the next day, A and T wanted something simple, so their families made some quiches and pies.

“The main thing was to spend some time with our guests on this special day and for the whole weekend. That’s actually one piece of advice we’d give to other couples planning a wedding at Le Castelet: book the whole venue for the whole weekend; that way you can put up all your guests on site and spend some quality time with them.”
